After driving 214 miles on 04/26/2006, we arrived at Paso Robles RV Ranch in the town of Paso Robles, CA just off US 101. We visited Cliff’s brother Ray 5 times during our week stay in Paso Robles.
Then we drove to Thousand Trails Morgan Hill Resort in Morgan Hill, CA on 05/03/2006 where we stayed for two weeks and visited 4 different Lighthouses. On 05/06/2006 we visited three of the four Lighthouses. The First was Pigeon Point Lighthouse near Pescadero, CA. This lighthouse went into service on November 15, 1872.
The next two lighthouses where in Santa Cruz, CA. The Santa Cruz Lighthouse the second lighthouse we visited. In 1967, the brick Mark Abbott Memorial Lighthouse was built adjacent to the wooden tower that it would replace.
The last lighthouse was the Walton Lighthouse. On June 9, 2002, the new harbor lighthouse was dedicated.
Then on 05/13/2006 we visited The Point Montara Lighthouse in Montara, CA. In 1928 the lighthouse was constructed.
We moved over to Thousand Trails San Benito Resort in Paicines, CA on 05/17/2006. On 05/20/2006 we visited the Point Pinos Lighthouse in Pacific Grove, CA. The Point Pinos lighthouse, though not the first built, is the oldest active lighthouse on the west coast, having been in operation since February 1, 1855.
Then on 05/27/2006 we visited The Pinnacles National Monument near Soledad, CA. Since 1908, the Monument increased in bits and pieces to its present size of about 26,000 acres. The picture was taken on the Overlook Trail.
On 05/31/2006 we visited The Point Sur Lighthouse near Big Sur, CA. On August 1, 1889, The Point Sur Lighthouse went into service.
