We arrived on 01/03/2007 at the Dove Rest RV Park in Marianna, FL. On 01/06/2007 we drove to Tallahassee, FL to visit the FL Capitol. The Legislature authorized money for a new Capitol Complex in 1972, to include House and Senate chambers and offices, and a 22-story executive office building. Construction of the Capitol and legislative office buildings began in 1973 and was completed in 1977. The picture is of the FL Capitol’s west side.
Tallahassee was chosen as the territorial capital in 1824. The first territorial government met in log cabins. A capitol building was constructed in 1826 but never completely finished. It was torn down in 1839 for the construction of the present structure, which was completed in 1845, just prior to Florida’s entry into the Union as the 27th state. Restored to its 1902 appearance, the Historic Capitol stands as an icon at the center of Florida’s Capitol complex. The picture is of the Old FL Capitol’s east side.

On 04/08/2007 we visited Jamestown National Historic Park. England was a late comer to the American scene. Her first attempt at settlement was the fabled lost colony of Roanoke in 1587. Twenty years later, in 1607, through a joint venture company known as the Virginia Company, England would establish her first permanent colony called Jamestown. In 1619, onboard a Dutch ship, “20 and odd” Africans arrive and are traded to the English for “victuals,” or food stores. Thus, the stage is set and Native American, Englishmen and Africans come together at one small settlement. The picture is of Jamestown National Historic Park Memorial Church.
We drove to Cherry Hill RV Park in College Park, MD on 04/18/2007 for 1 week. During this week we saw our doctors and visited friends.
